A combination of things we always get asked plus things we think are good to know, these questions and answers should offer some insight and trivia for even the savviest of folks.
Q. What is meant by a "full color" print job?
A. Full color refers to 4-color or CMYK printing. The reason we use the term "full color" with our customers is because "4-color printing" is a bit of a misnomer in the sense that it's really 4 inks, not 4 colors. It's the combination of the 4 inks (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) that create the appearance of a "full color" printed piece, the 4 inks mixing to produce about 24,000 different colors in the process. In contrast, your computer screen (which displays color in RGB mode) can produce about 16.7 million colors. This is the reason artwork appears different (often brighter) on-screen than it does in print.
