Frequently Asked Questions.

Q. What is meant by a "full color" print job?

A. Full color refers to 4-color or CMYK printing. The reason we use the term "full color" with our customers is because "4-color printing" is a bit of a misnomer in the sense that it's really 4 inks, not 4 colors. It's the combination of the 4 inks (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) that create the appearance of a "full color" printed piece, the 4 inks mixing to produce about 24,000 different colors in the process. In contrast, your computer screen (which displays color in RGB mode) can produce about 16.7 million colors. This is the reason artwork appears different (often brighter) on-screen than it does in print. The specific colors available in each color space is called a gamut. The gamut is much larger in RGB than CMYK.

Q. My website has to comply with certain industry standards. Can it be more than a template?

A. Francis & Wool has worked with legal and financial services requirements when designing and building websites. We understand the process for ensuring compliance with these and other industries. We can still design a site for you that is dynamic and branded – a marketing hub for clients and prospects.

Q. What do you know about search engine optimization?

A. In the IT world, Francis & Wool is known for its pretty code, meaning that we make it easy for search engines and other devices to locate and navigate your site easily. We also incorporate important keywords when building the site, keywords that people use often to search for your services that your competitors aren't using. We can help you get more people to your story online.

Q. How can Francis & Wool tie our brand into our office setting?

A. Through our graphic design projects, clients sometimes ask us to consult on wall colors, logo stencils, furniture and lobby accents that complement and communicate their brand. It's a small part of what we do, but we enjoy it immensely.

Q. What do you mean by "workflow consulting?"

A. Francis, in particular, has a knack for organizing workflow systems that help employees or small business owners keep up with their busy schedules and work more efficiently. If you have questions regarding project timelines or how to get the piles of files off your floor, we have good ideas.
